UN adopts (road safety)

  General Assembly adopted the United Nations in New York unanimously adopted the draft submitted by the Sultanate on the "global crisis of the Road Safety" has been adopted by 80 countries including the Sultanate, which was at the meeting yesterday to discuss it.

    The Ambassador of the Yota girl Sultan Almoghairia Permanent Delegate of the Sultanate at the United Nations in New York in her speech to the pioneering efforts of the Government of the Sultanate for the inclusion of road safety on the agenda of the international organization as the Sultanate is submitted a draft resolution I on the global crisis of safety on the roads in May , 2003.

   She Permanent Delegate of the Sultanate with the United Nations that the interaction in the field of road safety has become a priority area for international cooperation to reduce the number of deaths from traffic accidents by facilitating the exchange of information and experiences on best practices related to road safety and make recommendations to combat the occurrence of these injuries.

  Has shown Ambassador steps implemented by the Government of the Sultanate at the national level to promote road safety, including outreach efforts undertaken by the Royal Oman Police to enhance traffic safety, where is the distribution of approximately one million Bulletin of awareness annually in all governorates of the Sultanate and the preparation of films dealing with the topics of accidents traffic .. Noting that the Scientific Research Council monitors the amount of half a million Omani Rials per year to conduct research on traffic accidents and ways to address them.
